Tabards

8 products

Tabards do two different jobs and both are on this page. The over-the-head cleaning tabard — Uneek's heavyweight UC920 and Premier's PR171 with the longer PR172 — pulls on over a uniform, fastens at the side with adjustable studs or straps and carries a front pocket, so it protects clothing in cleaning, catering, care and retail work. The hi-vis tabard is the lighter over-garment worn to be seen: Result Core's zipped R202X and women's fitted R334F, and Yoko's YK004, YK009 and children's YK101. Sizes run from XXS to 3XL on the single-size styles and S/M, L/XL and 2XL/3XL on the paired hi-vis ones, with a children's size on two. Colours run from the workwear standards through to sixteen shades on the Premier pocket tabard and fluorescent yellow, orange and pink on the hi-vis. Logos are embroidered or printed on the chest at our Sheffield works. For a team order, use Request a Quote.

The two kinds of tabard

A tabard is a sleeveless over-garment that goes on over the head and fastens at the sides, and the two sorts on this page are bought for opposite reasons. The cleaning or catering tabard protects what is underneath: a heavier woven coverall with a front pocket, rated for a hot wash, worn over a polo shirt or tunic by cleaning teams, kitchen porters, care assistants and shop-floor staff. The hi-vis tabard is there to be seen: light, generously cut so it goes over a coat, and carrying reflective bands rather than pockets.

Putting your logo on a tabard

A tabard is one of the easiest garments to decorate, because the front is a flat, unbroken panel. On a cleaning tabard the logo goes on the chest above the pocket, and embroidery is the usual choice: the fabric is stable and stitching survives the hot washing these garments are specified for. On a hi-vis tabard the logo goes on the chest or across the back, and heat transfer or print is used so the reflective bands are left intact — the Yoko styles are built with a large decoration area front and rear for exactly that.

All of it is applied at our own Sheffield works, with artwork, sampling and production under one roof, so tabards are decorated in the same run as the polos, tunics or aprons ordered with them.

Sizes, colours and ordering

The cleaning tabards are sized individually, S to 3XL across the three styles. The hi-vis styles use paired sizes — S/M, L/XL and 2XL/3XL — which makes them practical to buy for a team whose sizes you do not have in front of you, and two of the Yoko styles cover children.

Prices show excluding VAT, with a switch at the top of the page to include it. Aprons and tunics are often ordered alongside these (see Work Aprons); for a quantity, send the styles, sizes and your artwork to Request a Quote.

Who wears a tabard?

Cleaning and housekeeping teams, school kitchens and catering staff, care and domiciliary workers, and shop and warehouse staff. The hi-vis side is worn by event marshals, charity collectors, cyclists, school-gate and crossing staff, and site visitors who need to be seen without a full jacket.

Do the hi-vis tabards meet a site standard?

Only where the product page says so. The Result Core R202X is certified to EN ISO 20471:2013 Class 2, with GO/RT 3279 Issue 8:2013 Class 2 on the orange, which is the one to specify for rail and principal-contractor work. The Yoko YK004 and YK101 conform to EN1150:1999, the leisure and non-professional visibility standard, which suits events, schools and cycling rather than a construction site. Check the site requirement first, then pick the garment.
